The ProfitPlan Calculator starts with a sample farm that grows 100 acres of seven different crops, with yields and prices that might be typical of some farming operations.
To use this calculator, revise the acres and other values as appropriate for your farm and the calculator will recalculate all values to reflect your input.
Step 1
Make revisions to Your 2007 Production Acres and Your Base Acres to reflect the acres for your farming operations. Enter zero acres for any crop not grown on your farm.After your revisions, click the Recalculate Button to submit your values for recalculation and all values will be recalculated based on your acres.
Step 2
Make revisions to Your 2007 Yield forecast and Your Base Yield for each appropriate crop. Click the Recalculate Button after each revisionand all values will be recalculated based on your yields.
Step 3
Make revisions to Your 2007 Selling Price forecast and the federal farm program forecast for each crop and click the Recalculate Button after each revisionand all values will be recalculated based on your prices. Explore several price scenarios and print the page as a record of your calculations.
Step 4
For each crop, revise the seeding rate, fertilizer rates, chemical rates, fuel usage and other crop production products and services. Enter zero for the quantity if you do not use a particular product or service. Revise the prices to reflect their costs to you. Click the Recalculate Button after your revisions to recalculate your expenses and profits.
